Thelwell Flooring have completed painting a factory floor in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This resulted in improved safety of personnel moving about the factory, and maintenance of the building’s high traffic areas for years to come.
Factory Floor Re-Painting Project
This industrial production facility required a robust floor finish to protect the concrete, and factory users, from spillages and the wet greasy lubricants being used. We needed to be aware of the health and safety concerns of the client and make sure we left them with a surface free of trip hazards that was easy to grip. We also knew that due to the busy environment, the floor needed to remain robust and maintain a smooth quality despite constant use.
Prior to painting, we needed to ensure the epoxy would produce a clean, even, load-bearing surface. The existing concrete was assessed. We then proceeded with a full heavy mechanical preparation to remove any contamination, repair any weaknesses, and to provide a profiled substrate to adhere to the new floor system.
High Build Epoxy Coating
Once the factory floor was prepared, we primed the area with Epoxy PH Color, a solvent free coloured epoxy coating which has a degree of flexibility making it ideal for the light and moderate loads being transported through this facility.
The final step was to coat the primed area with Epoxy PH Color. This coating can be accelerated to cure and be ready for foot traffic within 4 hours if needed, meaning our client was open for business as usual following the completion of the project. This type of epoxy comes in a wide range of colours, so we were even able to incorporate lane markings which lay flush to the floor. These are designed for the employees to follow to minimize coming into contact with safety hazards.
